Chubby Lady

chubby ladySay hello to her, the person
Who entered,
You see her now? The chubby
Middle-aged
Lady in clunky boots with
Gray streaks. Greet her since
No one seem to have
As yet.

Hello lady: Sorry.
I didn’t see you there.
Can I get you some tea…
Probably you’ll want
Lemon for your water
As well, with a
Side of iceberg or
Romaine.

No ice. No lemon. No salad.
Coffee with sugar and cream
And that heart-hardening scone
Over there lounging under the counter lights…
Toasted and slathered
Because

I’m invisible now, just
The chubby lady
With her old collection of men
Who stick around for some reason
Though still
Avoid eye contact and
Touch and who are
Careful to keep from
Panning the camera too low.
